The Neighborhood Kid and His Dream

I grew up the son of 2 very hard working parents, my Mother, an Italian immigrant, and my Father, a working class boy from Brooklyn.

I watched and learned from both of them as well as the families they came from, that hard work was something to be admired.

My parents divorced when I was 6, but regardless of how traumatic that may have been, I saw how adversity could either make you stronger or cause you to fold.

It all depends on what you wish and are willing to do.  Through the next 4 years I watched my Mom rise to the occasion.  At a time when it was not as common, she was working to support us.

She never made excuses for what we didn’t have.  She instilled a belief in me, that whatever I wished to be in this life, I could be.

As long as I did not give up or let someone else be the measure of who I was, I could achieve anything.

He had visions of me becoming a carpenter, but unfortunately for him at the time I set my sights on becoming an actor.  Just because I said I came from working class parents didn’t mean that I wished to follow in their footsteps.

Though I had many regular jobs, I knew that they always were a way to support existence, instead of fortifying a life or my dreams.  I struggled for many years, building a successful resume of credits, accolades and awards.

I have achieved a level of success that maybe 3% of my fellow thespians have.

Being the alpha that I am, I found after 25 years of success that I was living a dream that still required me to prove myself to a new set of prospective employers day after day.

As much as I love being an actor and overall creative artist, I started to wish to have more control over my life than being measured with 40 other guys who looked just like me.

At the ripe age of 42, I sat down to write a journal entry, which examined the crossroads I was experiencing in my life, and the wish for something different. Never for one moment did I expect that network marketing would be in my future! But like many things in life, I needed to look beyond the surface.

We Hit a Brick Wall

A co-worker and fellow actor invited me to look into this opportunity.  I was skeptical, even fearful at first of diving into something that I knew nothing about.  I joined merely because of the product that was associated with the opportunity and had belief in it.

With a 1 foot in and 1 foot out philosophy, I waited to see if the other shoe would drop.

After reaching the Executive levels of my opportunity in less than 2 months, it seemed there was no end in sight.  I had come to embrace the idea that I could create the kind of freedom that would spread to my whole family.  What I didn’t realize was I was falling victim to the same pitfalls that every person in networking has.  Instead of trading time for money, I was starting to trade time for nothing.

I was traveling in my car racking up the kind of miles that would put Willy Lowman to shame.

I was spending thousands of dollars on tools that I would ultimately give away to anyone who came into my team.  I would cancel personal engagement after personal engagement, for the sake of being available to “support” my team. Nobody was duplicating my efforts, aside from a couple of individuals.

We all found that even though we had learned some valuable lessons, and engaged in a wonderful community, we were caught in a cycle that did not serve to grow our businesses. I had removed myself from my family for hours and sometimes days on end.  Suffice it to say, I was not living the life of freedom that I had envisioned because I what I was doing was not working.

So, why wasn’t it?

I was engaged in the practices of old, instead of the strategies of the present.  I had ignored the most powerful communication conduit in history.  The Internet!

My Eyes Were Opened

Let me be perfectly clear.  I am in the business of connecting people to their dreams.

I also believe that helping people attain those dreams does not mean taking on people who are projects.

I live by the philosophy that, “In order to BECOME something, you must first LEARN something.”

In order for me to be the most efficient and productive I can be in this industry, I had to look at where I was in my business and where I wanted to be.  Knowing that I couldn’t get from here to there without taking steps, I had to roll up my sleeves and research WHAT the “new leaders” in the industry were doing and HOW they were succeeding.

During this process, I was fortunate to join forces with some awesome individuals who were of the same mindset.   With the shared philosophy of ‘the best idea wins”, we set our egos aside and formed a team that is producing results.  We are plugged into the cutting edge techniques that are generating free leads and growing our businesses on autopilot!
